Name Blocks

We recently had a reception to go to... and I needed a quick wedding gift...so this is what I came up with:
I used a 2x6 for the big "S" and a 2x4 for the "miths". For the "Est. 2009" I had my husband rip a 2x4 on our table saw to the size that i needed...so that the "miths" block and the "Est. 2009" block were the same height as the big "S". Before I cut the blocks...I cut the vinyl letters with my Cricut to the size that I wanted... and then measured the block length from that. I just painted the blocks, sanded and stained the edges... then stuck the vinyl on and wrapped a scrap piece of tulle around and tied in a bow.
Very Simple...but Very Cute! Have FuN!

FuN Water Bottle Holder!

I found this idea here...and I thought these would be perfect for when my kids are riding their bikes ...or for when we go camping and hiking this summer! I just bought my ribbon at Walmart...and the rubber O-Rings I bought at Home Depot. They came in a pack of 10. I couldn't find the same size that they suggested here...so I ended up getting 1 1/16" x 7/8" x 3/32" and that worked too. I used a little Fray Check on the ends of the ribbon...folded the ribbon a couple of times...stitched...and I was done! Soooo EaSy!! For complete instructions on how they made theirs ... click HERE! Personalized Beach Towel

My kiddos think these are pretty CoOL! I think they will get used a-lot this summer. They even love to lay them all out... in the house... and sit on them when they are watching TV.

These were fun to make! The towels I bought at Walmart (last year) for only $3. For these...I just traced some card stock letters (that I printed from my computer and cut out with an exact-o knife) onto some scrap fabric ...cut them out...and used fabric glue and StUcK them on the towel . Then I zig-zag stitched around the edge of each letter. If you don't like the frayed edge on the letters after you wash the towel...you could try using "Fray Check". I like the frayed look. Although... I did still have to trim some of the threads a bit after the first washing.

If you feel really CrEaTiVe...you could add flowers, or a dinosaur, or whatever your child would like!

I need to make some more of these... for when they take their baths so they don't use a new towel every time...which means" LeSS LaUnDrY "for me!! Yea!!

These would also make really cute Birthday or Christmas Gifts!! Have FuN!!

Today when I was browsing blogs...I came across this:

Y*U*M*M*Y!!!

I am a HUGE cookie dough fan..so when I saw this I was in LoVe! :)

I found this on Big Red Kitchen !! You only need 3 ingredients to make this:

  • Chips Ahoy Cookies (original)
  • Cool Whip
  • milk

(optional) chocolate syrup

The instructions look very simple...so I think I can handle this one! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

More Washer Necklace Pics!!

Here are a few other pics of some necklaces that I've made. Yes...these are definitely addicting!

These are the backs of the ones above... that my kids gave to their teachers this year. I bought the metal stamp set at Harbor Freight (for very cheap)...then once I stamped what I wanted into the washer...I colored the letters in with a black permanent marker...then wiped off the excess by spraying some hairspray on a paper towel and wiping over entire washer till it comes off. Very fun!!.
Instead of using the close clasp ends...I just tied a bead at one end, and made a loop at the other. Super Easy!! HaVe FuN!!

FuN Washer Necklaces!

Sorry for the not so quality pics...but I just had to share... These are so fun to make!

I found this idea on YouTube and it is from the DIY Network show called: "Creative Juice"!

Scroll down and hit pause on the music before you play video.

These were sooo easy and the turned out so cute!!! On some of the ones I made...distressed the edges with ink.

Another option you could do instead of using Diamond Glaze...is that you could pour resin over the top. If you decided to do that... you could prop the washers up on toothpicks so that the resin can drip off. When they were completely dry... I pried the stuck toothpicks off... and sanded the leftover resin on the back... OFF... till it was smooth. Resin gave them a very smooth, raised glassy look.

Also another option... that my daughter really liked... is using a glitter glaze. I found some of this over by where they keep the glue and resin at Michaels . This really gave it a "Bling" look to the washer. You could do so many different things with these... so just experiment... and have fun with it! These might be fun to make at either a Mother/Daughter activity...or Girls Camp!!

FuN Outdoor Chalkboard

My daughter absolutely LoVeS this. I just used a pre-cut 2'x4' piece of plywood, sanded it down, and covered it with chalkboard paint. I like the brush-on kind instead of the spray better. It seems to give it a smoother, softer surface to write on. The frame is made out of our left-over 1x6 cedar fence slats, which you can purchase very inexpensively at the lumber store. The frame, however, is anything but professional...but it worked! I used wood glue and a staple gun. I cut to size, then stapled both front and back of the wood to hold together! Then painted, and used wood fence screws to hold it securely on the fence. And that's it! A fun and inexpensive way to let your children show-off their CuTe artistic abilities!!

My Mothers Day Project--Mom no peeking :)

So here is what I have been recently working on & what I am going to give my mom and mother-in-law for Mothers Day! This was one of my first sewing projects, so I was pretty happy it even turned out. I really can't believe how fun they were to make, and how cute they turned out! I used a Simplicity pattern #2824, and added a few little fun things to it. I bought the fabric @ Jo-Ann's...love their 40% off coupon! I can't wait to give these to them!

flower yard stakes

These are made out of 1/4" plywood. I just drew( what I thought looked like a flower), and cut them out. The leaves were scrap wood that was leftover from cutting out the flowers. The stems could be made out of wood lath, or a sturdy yard stick (Home Depot has good ones for cheap) that you could sand down so you can't see the measurements. Then paint.
My daughter, who is turning into a little CraFter herself, had fun helping me with the painting.

Once they were done drying, I sanded the tops, and the edges down.

Then, I wiped stain around all the edges to give it that older look.

Then I used wood glue to hold the pieces together.

I think they turned out really cute! It thought would be really cute to take my kiddos pictures with them for a fun spring look!
