These were some FuN key chain wristlets that my sis-in-law whipped up for our teachers this year. She used two different styles of 1.5 size ribbon {that she bought @ Hobby Lobby} ...and a strip of Warm n Natural quilt batting to place in between both ribbon layers.
First she sewed both ribbons together on the outsides...then using a safety pin attached to a strip of Warm n Natural...we worked it through the sewn strips of ribbon {to give it a little more cushioning}. Then singed the frayed edges of ribbon...then folded them over 3 times...and placed in the key chain and used a clamp to clamp the metal together. { Boy I really hope that made sense :) }
Then I found a picture of a key online...and printed it out and used as a template to have my kiddos trace on some scrapbook paper. Then they cut out...and wrote their little thank-you notes on the back. We made one for each their teachers and and their bus driver.
My sis-in-law purchased her clamp key ring hardware online somewhere...but for the life of me...I can't remember the site...Uggg... but I know you can purchase some on Etsy. Does anyone else know where to find them??
Anyways...they were a BLAST to make...and would really make a FanTasTiC gift for anyone!
Happy Crafting!

ReplyDeleteLove the colors of your key chains. I have made these too & also gave one to my son's teacher. On the front of the paper key I wrote "You are the KEY to my success!"

Absolutely adorable idea to use a key made from scrapbooking paper as a note. The keychains are of course, cute too!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute blog! I found you through Ginger Snap Crafts :) I get my key fob hardware from either http://www.etsy.com/shop/bagladyofsc or http://www.etsy.com/shop/everythingribbons Both are great shops!! I have used the Mama She Crazy shop, but found that communication with them I VERY difficult.
