Sorry for the not so quality pics...but I just had to share... These are so fun to make!
I found this idea on YouTube and it is from the DIY Network show called: "Creative Juice"!
Scroll down and hit pause on the music before you play video.
These were sooo easy and the turned out so cute!!! On some of the ones I made...distressed the edges with ink.
Another option you could do instead of using Diamond Glaze...is that you could pour resin over the top. If you decided to do that... you could prop the washers up on toothpicks so that the resin can drip off. When they were completely dry... I pried the stuck toothpicks off... and sanded the leftover resin on the back... OFF... till it was smooth. Resin gave them a very smooth, raised glassy look.
Also another option... that my daughter really liked... is using a glitter glaze. I found some of this over by where they keep the glue and resin at Michaels . This really gave it a "Bling" look to the washer. You could do so many different things with these... so just experiment... and have fun with it! These might be fun to make at either a Mother/Daughter activity...or Girls Camp!!

Hi Nicole...thanks for the question! I am still new at the stamping stuff...but when I was doing it, I had to pound the hammer pretty hard 4-5 times before it would leave an impression. Sometimes when I would try too hard the stamp would slip giving the letter a smudged look. Grrr! So... I think the more practice I get the better they will turn out. There is a couple of tutorials on stamping on metal in YouTube you can check out... in the "search" type in: "jewelery making with beaducation" and a couple of tutorial should come up. Anyways...I hope this helps a little...let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! Happy Stamping!

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the size is that I used... I just grabbed them out of a bulk container at Home Depot. :( There are so many different sizes...I've made small ones...large ones...and ones with smaller holes in the middle. The thinner they are...the better...because they could get a little heavy around the neck if they are thick. I just used scrapbooking paper itself. i didn't ever take mine to a laser printer...and the ones I've made have turned out great!! I know they have a little thicker paper too...and I've made some with that too and they turned out great too. Just make a few samples first to make sure it works ok. Oh...check out Creative Itch blog... she has some CuTe anklets on there too that she made with washers. Well...hope this helps...let me know if you have any other questions!!

ReplyDeleteBlack7family...I bought some hemp(i think that is what it's called ??) cording @ JoAnns...and I bought some nylon(ish) cording @ Walmart by the kids beads. I think Walmart has both kinds.

I tried this craft...I bought a lot of the wrong stuff because they did not give enough details. I also had to order Diamond Glaze online. Micheals, Hobby Lobby..didn't carry it or know what I was talking about. This was a lot tougher than I thought it would be and EXPENSIVE in the end because I bought the wrong size beads,leather cording that didn't work well either. Bad idea for me.
